Common questions
Do I have to use your legal team?
No. Legal services are always optional and separately quoted. You can bring your own DR-licensed attorney โ or none at all if you're confident in the transaction.
How much do legal services cost?
Fees vary by service. A title search typically runs $500โ$800 USD. Full closing representation is quoted as a flat fee based on transaction complexity, usually 1โ1.5% of the purchase price.
Can foreigners own property in the DR?
Yes. The Dominican Republic has no restrictions on foreign property ownership. Foreigners have the same ownership rights as citizens, including freehold title.
What is CONFOTUR and does my property qualify?
CONFOTUR (Law 158-01) provides tax exemptions for tourism-development properties. Qualifying buyers receive a 15โ20 year exemption on transfer taxes and annual property taxes. Most new beachfront developments qualify; our team can verify eligibility before purchase.
